Today my kindergarteners made 3d shapes in MakerSpace. Some were recognizable pyramids and cubes and some were creations of their own. I loved seeing this focused side of the kids and gaining a new perspective on who they are.

First Day of School!
In an attempt to get into a regular blogging habit, I'm going to try to post 1 picture and sentence/phrase/word each school day. The posts will be short. And some may not be particularly meaningful. But it will hopefully be a way to document my school year with the great kiddos I met yesterday and …
Sure!
My #oneword from 2017 was sure and it was meant to help me be more open to trying new things, going to more events, saying yes to more. I didn't know it in January 2017 but moving to Reno would really facilitate these behavioral changes for me! Artown 2018 also facilitated the shift! We live …
Spring UNR evaluation results
Receiving the summer pre-assessment results in the mail jolted me to the realization that I hadn't yet posted this one. Zack's making tons of progress during summer session - working especially on verbs and pronouns in a sentence structure. He's working with 2 new (to him) students and we're super grateful that he gets therapy …
March Book Madness!
We started our Tournament of Books around the same time that the NCAA Mens and Womens tournaments began. Then we fell wildly behind. While the Villanova men won (they were my choice) and I came in 2nd in our office pool for the 2nd year in a row, we continued to work through our Sweet …

UNR Summary of Progress Fall 2017 Happy almost Christmas! Above is Zack's latest speech therapy report. He was lucky enough to work with 2 student clinicians again this fall. Jordan, one of our favorite students whom we met in Las Vegas, helped make sure that he'll meet with 2 students again in the Spring term, …
Quick Yosemite Trip Report
At about mile 4 of my friend Ryan's first half marathon on Saturday, September 23rd, I learned that you need a permit to backpack the Lost Coast Trail. This was quite a disappointment as Zack, our friend Shane, and I had been planning on hiking the Lost Coast Trail for months. But had no idea …
2nd speech day in a row (for me!)
Zack goes to speech so often and I go to school. He, as you know, is nearly 100% independent and is fortunate to be able to go about his life without support and assistance. Having said that, I love that I am on Fall Break (for so many reasons) and that Zack invited me to …
Perfect Fall Break Day!
Saturday was pretty perfect. We woke up really early, got in the car and drove 3 hours south to Yosemite, hiked with our AMC friend Matt and his climbing friend Zach to 2 beautiful lakes, then got back in the car and drove 3 hours home. It was a terrific way to start Fall Break. …
